The 2023 trends just keep on coming, and with summer in sight, many brands are leading the charge by announcing the "it" trends of the season. Etsy, the home decor powerhouse known for well-crafted, one-of-a-kind pieces directly from makers, has announced its summer 2023 trends and some of these staples are sure to last well beyond the season.
Paper Lighting
If you've been following The Spruce, you may already have spotted the paper lighting trend this year. So, Etsy's prediction that this could be the trend of the summer shouldn't be surprising. Paper lamps diffuse light in just the right way and give off a warm, soft glow that's perfect for setting a relaxing mood in your home. Summer is all about unwinding and finding some relaxation time, and these lamps are a perfect way to incorporate that theme throughout your home.
Etsy has seen an 85% increase in searches for hanging paper lanterns and a 61% increase in searches for rice paper lighting. The lamp style, integral to Asian cultures, has been popularized in the United States over the past few decades.
If hanging lamps aren't your thing, you can incorporate this look into your home with floor lamps as well. Use these lamps as a singular statement piece or in a group for a bit of sophisticated flair in your home.

Parisian Interiors
The French art of living well is all about having classic, quality materials in your home. Parisian apartments have an air of refinery to them, and Etsy is encouraging us to get that look at home. Including vintage finds like gilded wall mirrors, paintings in ornate frames, and marble accents is a quick way to turn your home into the French social hub of your dreams.
Etsy has seen a 119% increase in searches for wall mirrors and a 67% increase in searches for custom oil paintings. You can take this elegant trend a step further by switching out your existing hanging light fixture with a gorgeous chandelier—these changes are sure to be a conversation starter. And when your guests ask where you got all your gorgeous vintage finds from, be sure to tell them Etsy.

Jewelry for the Home
One of the easiest ways to change the feel of a space is by changing the existing hardware. You'd be surprised at how a simple swap of cabinet, dresser, or closet knobs can take a room from drab to fab. It's all in the details, and these little changes can be swapped out seasonally to give your home a fresh look without blowing your budget.
"I’m personally planning on adding jeweled plant stakes around my home and switching out several drawer pulls to really elevate and add personality to some of my existing decor—without breaking the bank," Dayna Isom Johnson, Etsy’s resident trend expert, tells The Spruce.
Already in love with your home's hardware? No problem, just add these finishing touches in places you wouldn't expect them. A unique wall hook where one wasn't before, a suncatcher to add some visual interest to a room, or even a curtain tie can make a big impact. Etsy's seen a 50% increase in searches for suncatcher prisms and 46% increase in searches for unique wall hooks. Don't get left behind on sprucing your home up for the summer.

Mermaidcore
We, for one, love microtrends, so get ready for another "core" that's going to make a splash this summer. From Disney movies to parades, mermaids are in and are showing no sign of going out anytime soon. Why not bring the beauty of a mythical creature into your home this summer? It can be as simple as incorporating new colors or adding some candle holders to home.
Etsy's seen a 30% increase in searches for oyster shell ring dishes, a 24% increase in searches for Mother of Pearl trays, and a 22% increase in searches for bubble light fixtures or pendants. Add a little bit of whimsy to your home and embrace your inner child with shells, iridescent accents, and pearls.
"This emerging ocean-inspired look is a much-welcomed extension of some of our favorite existing trends—like last summer’s crustaceancore and coastal grandmother—but with a more whimsical and playful twist," Johnson says.
