Learning Your 9 Star Ki

Feng shui is a healing practice that works with the energy of your home. It comes from ancient China and has developed alongside other modalities like Chinese astrology. One of these astrological systems is called the Nine Star Ki. Using your birthdate, you can learn about your principal element and, in turn, gain information on what elements nourish and feed you.

Calculate Your Own Nine Star Ki 

Here is how you can calculate your own Nine Star Ki:

1. Using your birth year, add up all the four digits.
2. Continue to reduce the numbers by adding them until you have a single digit.
3. If you were born after February 4th, you will subtract that number from 11.
4. If you were born between January 1st and February 3rd, you will subtract that number from 12

For example, if you were born in March of 1995, add 1 + 9 + 9 + 5 = 24. Then 2 + 4 = 6. Then 11 - 6 = 5. Your principle Nine Star Ki is 5.

Another example: If you were born in January of 1995, add 1 + 9 + 9 + 5 = 24. Then 2 + 4 = 6. Then 12 - 6 = 6. Your principle Nine Star Ki is 6.

Lastly, another situation to highlight is that, if your sum after subtracting is more than 9, add those digits again. For example, if you were born in April of 1999, add 1 + 9 + 9 + 9 = 28. Then 2 + 8 = 10. Then 1 + 0 = 10. Then it would be 11 - 1 = 10, which you would then do 1 + 0 = 1. Your principle Nine Star Ki is 1.

Each number type has an element associated with it, as well as a general energetic archetype. 

Water
