Based in southwest Michigan, Aim-for-A Tutoring is the online division of Aim Academics, a chain of in-person tutoring centers in the Detroit metropolitan area focusing on K-12 students. This division it also offers online tutoring services to students all over the world and hires internationally.
Types of Work-at-Home Positions at Aim-for-A Tutoring:
Online tutors at Aim-for-A tutor one-on-one or in groups in a variety of subjects, including math, science, and language arts (vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension and writing) in grades 1-12.
They also offer homework help, study skills, Chinese language classes and gifted and talented enrichment as well as Talented And Gifted (TAG) Test preparation classes and TAG. Other test preparations for GED, PSAT, SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT, TOEFL and AP subjects.
Students are English-speaking and range in age from elementary school to high school as well as some college students in the test prep couses. Tutoring is done via online audio and data conferencing, using Skype.
Applicants from all over the world are accepted; however, tutors must be prepared to work hours to accommodates students from Europe, North America, or Australia. Teaching experience and a bachelor degree in subject taught are required. Teaching certification is also a desirable, but not always required, qualifications. Tutors’ English skills must be excellent. Tutors must be prepared to work weekends and evenings.
Technical requirements include access to a personal computer with speakers, a microphone and broadband Internet access and a Skype account and software. For some subjects a digital tablet with a pen mouse is highly recommended.

Note that Aim 4 A’s relatively low requirements (no teaching certificate required) and global marketplace may mean that the pay scale is not high. According to Glassdoor.com, many online tutoring jobs pay around $10-15 per hour.
