What You'll Need

  • 1 cup/240 mL ketchup
  • 1/3 cup/80 mL apple (peeled and grated)
  • 1/4 cup/60 mL apple juice
  • 1/4 cup/60 mL soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup/60 mL apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup/60 mL brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup/60 mL onion (grated)
  • 2 teaspoons/10 mL bell pepper (grated)
  • 1 teaspoon/5 mL garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon/5 mL white pepper

How to Make It

1. Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and let simmer 15 minutes. Make sure to keep an eye on the sauce so that it does not burn.

2. Remove from heat and allow the sauce to cool for 10 minutes before using. The sauce can be stored in a plastic container in the refrigerator for up 1 week after preparation.
