This easy apple dump cake is a cobbler-like cake, and it takes just a few minutes to prepare with a cake mix and pie filling. Only four ingredients make a cake you can make for any occasion. It's a fantastic cake to make when you're craving a sweet dessert or treat.

- 1 can (21 ounces) apple pie filling
- 1 box (approximately 18 ounces) spice cake mix
- 1 cup melted butter
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
Preheat oven to 350 F (180 C/Gas 4).
Grease a 9-by-13-by-2-inch baking pan.
Spread the pie filling evenly over the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
Sprinkle dry cake mix over the apple filling.
Drizzle the melted butter evenly over cake mix layer and then top with the chopped nuts.
Bake for 30 to 40 minutes.
Store leftover cake in the refrigerator for 4 to 5 days.
The cake freezes well, too. Slice it into squares and freeze individual squares or a whole cake on a baking sheet.
When it's frozen, wrap it in foil or plastic wrap and then put it in a food storage bag. Freeze for up to 4 months. To reheat, thaw the cake at room temperature for about an hour and reheat in a preheated 350 F (180 C/Gas 4) oven for about 25 to 35 minutes, or until it's warm.

- Easy Caramel Sauce In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, combine 1 cup of packed light brown sugar with 1/2 cup of evaporated milk or half-and-half, 4 tablespoons of butter, and a pinch of salt. Cook, stirring frequently, for about 6 minutes. Add the vanilla and cook for 1 or 2 minutes longer. Remove the sauce from the heat and set aside to cool slightly. Pour the sauce into a clean jar and refrigerate. It will thicken more as it cools. Drizzle over the apple cake or use it on bread pudding or ice cream.
