Serve this super easy five ingredient crockpot appetizer recipe for Applesauce Kielbasa at the start of a hearty fall meal. It is rich and sweet and spicy, with brown sugar and mustard. If you really love mustard, add more types. I adore a fire-roasted garlic mustard I can only get at my local coop.
You can use any fully-cooked sausage in place of the kielbasa if you'd like. Take a look at my Sausage Chart for more information about which sausages to use, and which should be cooked before serving and the ones that can be served straight from the package.

This recipe can also be served as a main dish over some rice pilaf or cooked pasta; anything to soak up the delicious sauce. In that case, cut the sausages into 2" pieces.
If serving as an appetizer, use little toothpicks to get the sausages from the sauce, or serve it with small plates and tiny forks.
- 2 pounds kielbasa sausage (fully cooked)
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup chunky applesauce
- 3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
Cut the kielbasa into 1 inch pieces and combine them with the brown sugar, applesauce, mustard, and garlic in a 3 quart slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until the sausage is thoroughly heated and the sauce is bubbly.
If you have a new hot cooking crockpot, cook on low for 4-6 hours until hot.Because this recipes is high in sugar, it can burn easily.
