If you’ve been loving the coastal grandma trend, and have been living your best Diane Keaton-style life all year long, we’ve found the winter equivalent: après ski. The trend is taking over home decor and fashion—perhaps you’re wearing a balaclava right now—so you can embrace a snowy, fairy-tale vibe even if you’re nowhere near a mountain.

What Is Après Ski Design?

Après ski, or "after ski" as it translates, embraces getting cozy and relaxing after a ski day. This (for interior design) could look like faux or real sheepskin throws, pine or spruce tree branches with berry springs in large clear vases, boucle chairs with cowhide throw pillows, and plenty of leather and plaid accents. A fire crackling in the background always helps, too.

Interior design Denise Rives would know. She’s based in Vail, Colorado, and says the trend is all about importing the look and feel of a resort into your home.

“But not just any resort—think rustic-luxe, modern organic, design-forward destinations that embrace breathtaking mountain landscapes and winter wonderland," she tells us. “This is far from the stuffy ski chalet style of the past. Now, think all things cozy, with a luxuriousness that embodies casual ease, rather than fancy.”

To get you started incorporating the après ski trend into your home, we found eight items you can add to your online cart today. Let your snow bunny era commence.

PB Teen Skiers Organic Sheet Set

You can drift off to sweet chalet-themed dreams with these sheets, made of ultra-soft organic cotton percale and adorned with various skiers. These are available in three sizes (twin/twin XL, full, and queen), and would be equally as adorable for a guest room in a cabin as they would for your bed. For a full set, nab a pair of pillowcases too.

Uncommon Goods Ski Resort Blueprints

For a subtle, sophisticated way to inject an apres ski-feel into your home, opt for artwork. These blueprint-inspired prints feature iconic ski resorts—think Breckenridge, Vail, Keystone, and Park City—with an oh-so-cool vintage, distressed feel. Best of all, these blueprints are neutral enough to be hung all year long without feeling out of place when it’s 80 degrees and sunny outside.

Anecdote Apres Ski Candle

Whenever you’re missing the slopes, the least you can do is light this Anecdote Candle, fittingly named Apres Ski. Then close your eyes and take a whiff of the invigorating scent of spearmint, cypress, and cinnamon with a rich spruce and cedar base. It’s almost as invigorating as a run on fresh powder. With 60 hours of burn time, you can light this one now until springtime. (Psst: this candle would be a sure-fire hit of a gift for any ski lovers in your life.)

Anthropologie Snow Day Pillow

Snow Day Pillow

=Not only are throw pillows a soft spot to rest your head—a must for movie nights—but they’re also one of the easiest ways to inject seasonal joy into your living room design. This pillow, which features a charming slope-side scene, instantly adds an apres ski vibe to your couch long through the holidays and for months after too.

vital Ski Tools Stemless Wine Glass, Set of 2

Whether you’ve been hitting the slopes all day or simply wishing you were mountainside, treat yourself to a crisp and refreshing beverage of your choice in these stemless wine glasses. They’re adorned with skis, boots, mittens, and a steaming cup of cocoa, and come in a set of two. Choose between red, matte gold, or a combination of the colors.

ROEDERcraft Vintage Ski Poster Throw Blanket

Just thinking about apres ski gives us the chills, so a chalet chic throw blanket is a must. Pop over to Society6 for a variety of vintage ski poster throws, like this charming Stowe, Vermont-themed one. (More of an Aspen fan? Society6 has options for lots of locales). Each of their throws is available in three sizes and made from super soft and machine-washable sherpa fleece.

Terrain Fair Isle Ceramic Plate

Few patterns say “apres ski” more than fair isle. It’s good for more than just sweaters though. To inject a little fair isle into your home decor, add a few of these ceramic plates to your Anthropologie cart. They’re hand-crafted by a Polish pottery house and are bound to be brought out for special occasions of all kinds all winter long.
