What We Like
Builds fine motor skills
Encourages imaginative play
What We Don't Like
Packaging is difficult to open (but is recyclable)
Comes with four cages but only two animals
Young kids are ready to explore, socialize, and put their imagination to work. Now that most of them have mastered the art of walking (and possibly running), they’re also ready to develop new fine motor skills. We put the B. Pet Vet Clinic to the test, seeing if it would boost our children's brain power and keep them entertained. Read on to see what our tiny reviewer revealed.
Design: Compact and clever
The B. Pet Vet Clinic is compact, measuring just 12.5 x 11.5 inches, but it really packs a punch. It’s colorful enough to pique children’s curiosity, and many components pop in and out, making it easy to keep the whole playset tidy. Since parents often have to tidy up after a play session, we appreciated that all the accessories included can be stored in the case itself. Once our kids were done playing, they neatly put the vet tools inside the clinic so no one had to hunt for missing pieces and cleanup essentially became part of the game.
The B. Pet Vet Clinic is tiny but mighty.
The handle doesn’t just make it the perfect take-along toy, it also encourages independent play. Made of durable plastic and weighing just over two pounds, this toy is light enough for our 4-year-old to carry from room to room without needing any help.
Entertainment Value: Hours of make-believe fun and hands-on play
The B. Pet Vet Clinic is tiny but mighty. It’s packed with fun features that are super engaging and hands-on, including: two plush animals, an owl which pops out from the chimney, four different vet tools, a detachable scale, four animal rooms with color-match keys, and (our kids’ personal favorites) a slide-out exam table with vital signs and an X-ray display. All the vet supplies are versatile and cater to different interests and stages of development. Children can utilize them to build new motor skills, but they can also use them and just let their imaginations run wild.
The way kids interact with the clinic will likely depend on their age. For example, our 4-year-old son used the scale and thermometer to fix up imaginary ouchies and boo-boos, while our 18-month-old used them to work on his dexterity and coordination. Regardless of the activity they choose, this toy has enough going on to hold children’s attention for quite some time.

Educational Value: Teaches empathy and strengthens hand-eye coordination
In all of its multitasking glory, the B. Pet Vet Clinic has various tools that can really benefit toddlers physically, mentally, and emotionally. Children can match the color- and shape-coded keys to the corresponding rooms to work on their dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Even the act of opening the lid of the clinic to put away the stethoscope and other vet tools is a great agility exercise for tiny toddler fingers.
For children who are a little more advanced and looking for a playful escape, the vet carry case encourages roleplay and creative storytelling, which, in and of itself, can help them build their confidence and sense of self. After a few sessions, our 4-year-old son knew exactly what he wanted to do and how he wanted to do it. He was self-assured and self-sufficient in his play. What’s more, the clinic helps instill emotional intelligence. As they care for the plush animals, children get in touch with their own feelings and learn the value of empathy.
Age Range: Two to six years old
Since it is so versatile, the B. Pet Vet Clinic is suitable for children between the ages of two and six. While 2-year-olds will likely focus on practicing new skills, 4-year-olds and up can get very creative. Though there aren’t any choking risks and younger children are able to use this toy, they may not have the dexterity and coordination that some of the features require, which may result in occasional (or frequent) upsets.
Cleaning: Easy to clean
The vet carry case is easy to dust and clean with a damp wipe. If the vet supplies get dirty, you can also wash them with soap and water, and should your toddler spill their juice on one of the plush animals, they are machine washable.
Price: An affordable, worthwhile purchase
At $26.50, this toy is definitely affordable. Best of all, since your little one can find some interest in it for three to four years, you’ll be sure to get your money’s worth.
B. Pet Vet Clinic vs. Dalmatian Vet Kit by Battat
Both the B. Pet Vet Clinic and the Dalmatian Vet Kit provide an opportunity for imaginary play and motor skills development. Even though the pet vet clinic comes with fewer tools, it has more interactive features (like the color-marked keys and sliding exam table), making it more versatile. The experience of playing with the Pet Vet Clinic is also more immersive. As a miniature version of a veterinarian office, the set offers the perfect backdrop for kids to let their creative juices flow as they take care of furry friends. Though it’s more expensive than the Dalmatian Vet Kit, the B. Pet Vet Clinic is a better investment.
