    These rolls can be shaped or baked as pan rolls. They are soft and yeasty, with a hint of honey and amazing texture from the buttermilk. These rolls are an excellent choice for a special meal. Or, freeze the rolls and take a few out when you need them.

    Freezing and Reheating Dinner Rolls


    Any of these dinner rolls can be prepared ahead of time and frozen baked or unbaked. 


    To freeze unbaked rolls, shape the dough as desired and arrange them on a baking...MORE sheet lined with parchment paper. Put the baking sheet in the freezer and freeze until the rolls are frozen solid; transfer to a freezer container or bag. The day before you plan to bake them, remove them and arrange in the baking pan(s). Cover and refrigerate them overnight to thaw. Remove them from the refrigerator and bring them to room temperature. Follow the recipe for the second rise and bake as directed.


    To freeze and reheat baked rolls, bake them as directed. Let the rolls cool completely, then wrap in foil. Put the wrapped rolls in a zip-close freezer bag or container and freeze for up to one month. Thaw the rolls or reheat foil-wrapped rolls in a preheated 300° F oven for about 10 minutes.
