A Word From Barbara Gillette

"My lifelong work has been the work of learning and sharing knowledge with others. The human need to connect with nature is essential to fulfillment and balance in our lives. Myriad ways exist to touch the earth. A garden starts with seed, soil, sun and water. Then the real work begins. My goal is to work with the Spruce Gardening Review Board to help others discover their personal interests and abilities. One of my favorite quotes comes from Shaker Mother Anne Lee: 'The Earth yields most to those who love it.'"

Gillette received the title of Master Gardener by the University of Kentucky's Cooperative Extension Service in 2014, and a Master's degree in Broadcast Journalism from Boston University’s College of Communications. After years of self study, she received recognition as an Herbalist from Rosemary Gladstar’s Sage Mountain Herbal Center in 2013.
