We purchased the Beachcrest Home Pierview Corner Bookcase so our expert reviewer could put it to the test in her home. Keep reading for our full product review.
Bookshelves are a great way to organize not only your favorite titles, but also art, framed photos, plants, and knick knacks. If you’re looking for an elegant shelf that can put your prized possessions on display, the Beachcrest Home Pierview Corner Bookcase is a great option. The vertical shelf makes use of empty space, turning a boring corner into a focal point, which is exactly what we needed in our living room. Read on for our full assessment of the bookcase’s setup process, design, price, and competition.
Setup Process: Read the directions closely
Assembling the Beachcrest Home Pierview Corner Bookcase should be a snap. You literally snap a series of wooden dowels into place, after all. But before you go glueing the pegs into place, make sure you read the instructions carefully. We found the manual to be a bit convoluted and ended up placing ours incorrectly. If you glue them in as the instructions say, you won’t be able to get them out, either. Unfortunately for us, this meant we had to hunt down extra pieces at a hardware store.
Aside from our mishap with the dowels, screwing and stacking the five shelves together wasn’t too difficult and it took us less than an hour. While the instructions say you need two people to build the bookcase, we were able to do it ourselves without issue. At 29.92 pounds, it’s easy enough to move around, and the rest of the included hardware—Phillips head screws, flathead screws, and wood plugs—are straightforward enough to install correctly.

As a mom, we appreciate that the shelf also comes with a tip-over restraint device. The easy-to-install mount anchors the top of the bookcase to the wall with the aid of a metal strap, a plastic anchor, and a screw. While the bookcase’s solid build and angled legs already felt sturdy, the mount gave us extra peace of mind knowing that if our kids bumped into it, the shelf wouldn’t tip over.
Design: Clean, simple lines
We love that this five-tiered stand is constructed from solid wood. While the hearty build ensures it won’t tip over unprompted, it isn’t visually heavy. Another winning aspect of the design is how it can take a boring corner and turn it into a purposeful, attention-grabbing space. Whether you’re placing it in a tiny bedroom and just need to capitalize on the space, or you tuck it into an empty corner in a cavernous living room hoping it’ll take up considerable space, it works well in both applications.

We set our Beachcrest bookcase up in a corner across from our TV stand. The space, which is next to our couch, is too small for a regular bookshelf but too large for a side table. The 63.25 x 29.5 x 21 bookcase took up just the right amount of room without feeling cramped and the black finish looked nice and sleek. If black doesn’t match your decor, the shelf is also available in cherry and white.
While the bookshelf is ideal for displaying decorative accents like vases, candles, plants, and small sculptural pieces, the one thing it doesn’t hold well is—ironically—books. Since the wedged shelves vary in depth from 8.625 inches to 17.75 inches, most aren’t suited to large novels. If you do choose to stack some on the wider bottom shelves, you’ll need a bookend or heavy object to keep them upright, and even then, it only looks good from one angle. That said, if you’re picking up the shelf to display a curated collection of decor, it’ll work beautifully.

Price: Fair for the quality
The Beachcrest Home Pierview Corner Bookcase retails for $108.99 which we find fair. Particle board bookcases can go for upwards of $100, so the fact that it’s made from solid wood is a major win.
Competition: Lots of options, but check what they’re constructed from
Zipcode Design Tisha Corner Bookcase: With a similar price and design, you may think Zipcode Design’s Tisha Corner Bookcase is the same as Beachcrest Home’s offering. The major difference here, though, is that Zipcode’s bookcase is made partially from manufactured wood, as opposed to solid wood. That said, it is available in a variety of additional colors, including weathered oak, gray, espresso, cherry, black, and white, so if Beachcrest doesn’t have a shade that suits your decor, it may be a good option.
O&K Furniture 5-Shelf Industrial Corner Bookcase: O&K’s corner bookcase is similar to Beachcrest’s in that it has five wedged shelves and it retails for $130. Beyond that, though, it has a totally different look and feel with an industrial black metal frame and faux wood shelves. Our favorite aspect of O&K’s offering is that the bookcase is part of a larger collection, so you can choose to mix and match it with other shelves if you need additional storage/display space.
