Bamboo bed sheets are not only exceptionally soft and sustainable, but they're also naturally moisture-wicking and breathable, with unique temperature-regulating abilities. Woven from fibers sourced from bamboo, these sheets can feature silky materials like lyocell, rayon, or model, making them feel extra luxurious and soft enough to almost feel slippery in hand. Plus, thanks to their bamboo nature, these sheet sets are made with eco-friendly, hypoallergenic fibers that are typically more sustainable than cotton, linen, and others.
And there's another smart perk to bamboo sheets: "Bamboo offers something other materials don't in that it's naturally antibacterial," says textile expert Deborah Young. "Bacteria causes odor. If you have an antibacterial sheet, you have no odor." So, in addition to keeping you cool with great breathability and a lightweight, airy construction, the material's antimicrobial nature only adds to the value of bamboo sheets.
Choosing a quality set of bamboo sheet is a bit different from other types, since there can be plenty of variety in the material, the weave, and the weight of each sheet set. To help you find the best of the bunch, we researched and tested more than 30 top options in The Lab, evaluating each based on quality, texture, durability, and breathability. Our top picks were those bamboo sheets that offered a cool, cozy sleep experience, held up to wear and tear both in The Lab and during at-home testing, and offered good value overall.

Exceptionally soft

Corner straps keep sheets in place
Prone to wrinkling
BAMPURE's 100% Organic Bamboo Sheets offer luxurious quality at a very reasonable price point. The thick yet lightweight fabric is made from organic bamboo viscose, which has a silky and naturally cooling feel. Grown in a chemical-free environment, these sheets are OEKO-TEK certified and naturally odor-resistant.
In our product testing, we found the BAMPURE sheet set to be much softer than traditional cotton sheets, with a sateen weave that adds an impressive sheen. The fabric is also naturally cooling, making it particularly great for the warmer months. Silky with a visible sheen, we loved how well these bamboo sheets maintained their initial coolness even after laying atop them. We found these sheets stayed consistent thanks to their breathable, lightweight weave.
During testing, we also loved the look of these sheets and the lack of visible wear after washing. They maintained their shape and softness after washing, with only the slightest shrinkage, and the elastic on the fitted sheet ensures that the sheets will stay put throughout the night. Plus, as an added perk, BAMPURE's bamboo sheets come in fun colorways, giving you more options than the typical basic neutrals.

Cozy Earth
Exceptionally soft and silky
10-year warranty
Stays soft after washing
Expensive
If you can swing the steep price, you won't regret investing in a set of buttery-soft Cozy Earth's Bamboo Sheet Set. They're loomed from 100 percent bamboo-sourced viscose, a renewable resource with naturally cooling and thermo-regulating properties. In our product testing, the sheets stayed cool to the touch and did not wrinkle at all right out of the wash. These sheets were impressively soft after washing and had no wrinkles—even on the pillowcase! There were no loose seams–a sign of the sheets' durability–and maintained their silky shine out of the wash. We also noted that the set maintains its shape and softness, which earned it top marks from our team.
We like that Cozy Earth bedding carries multiple certifications, too. This includes OEKO-TEX, FSC (Forest Stewardship Council), and Ecocert. While this sheet set is undoubtedly expensive, it's a prime choice for hot sleepers and folks who get night sweats. We also appreciate that the fitted sheet has 20-inch pockets, so you can bet it'll fit any type of mattress. Oh, and you don't want to overlook the detail that these sheets are backed by a 10-year warranty.

Sheet do warm up over time
For shoppers on a budget, we recommend Bedsure Viscose from Bamboo Sheets Set. The viscose material makes it breathable yet absorbent, with natural temperature-regulating abilities. The bamboo rayon fabric also helps wick away moisture and is soft on even sensitive skin. Upon feeling these sheets firsthand, we loved the cool-to-the-touch smoothness right out of the package, and the cool temperature of the set was immediately obvious in our testing. While the texture of these sheets does make them prone to wrinkling, we felt that overall their softness really stood out.
These wallet-friendly sheets are incredibly soft with a smooth, silky texture. But unlike real silk, they're durable enough to be washed in a standard washing machine and tumble-dried on low heat (just expect some wrinkling post-wash). We also love the affordable price, particularly given the high-quality feel. Bedsure's sheets are a good price for a four-piece set, and they feel like luxury sheets at a low price.
It is worth noting, though, that these sheets do warm up as you lay on or under them. While they aren't as warm as cotton or percale sheets typically are, this bamboo set can run a little warmer than others on our list.

The Cotton Bamboo Sateen Sheet Set from The Company Store boasts a unique fabric blend: It's made of 70 percent bamboo-sourced rayon and 30 percent combed cotton with a sumptuously smooth, sateen weave. And when we got our hands on these sheets, we were immediately impressed! We loved the silky-soft feel that doesn't feel slippery and remains cool to the touch. With a 300-thread count, the material offers the perfect amount of breathability and lightness without feeling too thin. Reasonably priced
Breathable, lightweight weave
Cold to the touch
Pill-resistant
Prone to wrinkling
Not dryer-friendly

For those who run hot at night, consider a set of thermo-regulating Linenwalas Bamboo Sheets. This reasonably priced set earned a 4.8 overall score in our product testing, and we appreciated the cooling effect of the eco-friendly material. We found these bamboo sheets cold, not cool, to the touch–and they remained wonderfully cool even after we laid on the sheets to warm them up with body heat. The fabric is exceptionally breathable, and absorbent, too, a detail that helps it wick sweat away from your body while you sleep.
We also like that these Linenwalas sheets come in a wide color range, which includes 16 shades. You can opt for a neutral-hued set or something more eye-catching to suit your bedroom's style and aesthetic. Though this sheet set isn't dryer-friendly and is prone to wrinkling, the smooth sateen weave is resistant to pilling and actually gets softer with every wash. Overall, when it comes to temperature regulation, this highly cooling bamboo set is tough to top.

Ettitude's Signature Sateen Sheets earned a 4.4 overall score in our product testing, thanks to their wonderfully soft nature, their silk-like drape, and their design perks that made making the bed a breeze. Right out of the package, we loved the incredible softness of these sheets, and we were impressed by their excellent breathability. As we made the bed, we liked the drapiness of the silky weave, though we wished the sheets didn't require such delicate care–they can quickly wrinkle if not removed from the wash immediately, and they're more temperature sensitive than other options.
However, we also liked the sustainable materials used to create these sheets. The set is made of Ettitude's CleanBamboo fabric, a 100 percent bamboo-sourced lyocell that adjusts its temperature to keep you comfy and climate-controlled. According to the brand, the material is created using 500 times less water than cotton and produces about half as much carbon dioxide.
And when it comes to choosing You can choose from a range of colors, including everyday neutrals and chic hues like slate gray, moss green, and sage. We also appreciate the extra-deep, 17-inch fitted sheet.

If skin feel is your most important factor when choosing sheets, consider Cariloha's Resort Bamboo Bed Sheet Set. This set earned a 4.8 overall score in our product testing, and we loved the exceedingly soft fabric and silky texture of the sateen weave. We also appreciated that the 400-count is on the higher side for bamboo sheets.
These sheets are woven from 100 percent bamboo-sourced viscose. In addition to being supremely soft, they're notably breathable with sweat-wicking and thermal properties abilities to keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter. We also loved how easy it is to make the bed with these soft and smooth sheets; you won't find yourself struggling to get the fitted sheet in place or wrestling the top sheet.
While we wish this bamboo set from Cariloha was more affordable, the sheets are easy to care for and durable, so you'll definitely get your money's worth. Small-ish pillowcases
If you prefer organic bed linens, consider Quince's Bamboo Sheet Set. While plenty of bamboo sheet sets promise organic or sustainable materials, this product delivers–and it costs about half as much as others in its category. Quince's bamboo sheets flaunt a high-quality, luxurious design, and the GOTS-certified fabric is woven with 100 percent viscose sourced from the pulp of renewable bamboo plants.
The set is silky-soft and cool to the touch, with temperature-regulating properties that keep you comfy while you doze. These sheets also do a great job of wicking away sweat; in our testing process, we found that the breathable fibers and weave allowed for good airflow and kept us cool while under the covers. We also loved how low-maintenance these sheets are, too—just toss them in your washer and tumble-dry them on low heat.
While Quince's bamboo sheets are prone to wrinkling and do run a little small, particularly when it comes to the pillowcases, overall they offer plenty of bang for your buck. With a reasonable price and solid quality, these organic sheets will give you peace of mind in addition to good value.

How We Tested the Sheets
We put 30+ sets of sheets to the test at The Lab in Des Moines, Iowa, evaluating their quality, texture, breathability, durability, and overall value. After trying them out over the course of a day—making dozens of beds and laying in them for five minutes at a time—we laundered each set, measuring to see if there was any shrinkage. We looked for key indicators of sheet durability, like loose threads and seams, wrinkling, and any changes or wear to the elastic of the fitted sheets.
Additionally, we tested the breathability and cooling capability of each set of bamboo sheets, both in The Lab and during a long-term at-home testing process. We assessed each sheet set's temperature via touch, both right out of the package and after washing. After making the bed, we then laid atop and under (for flat sheets) the sheets for approximately five minutes to determine how quickly they warmed up to body temperature. Over the course of one-, three-, and six-month testing, we also gained insight into how the bamboo sheets cooled and performed during hot nights and with sleepers who run warm.
The result? A list of highly-vetted options for all budgets and styles.
What to Look for in Bamboo Sheets
Material
Bamboo blends are common in sheets, but the best options are those that are 100 percent bamboo–like BAMPURE's Organic Bamboo Sheet Set, a standout set in softness and natural cooling capability. The blend that performed best consistently during our firsthand testing process was bamboo lyocell, which also happens to be more environmentally friendly and made with non-toxic processes. Lyocell-based sets, like Ettitude's Signature Sateen Sheet Set, offer a luxurious level of softness and good durability with washing and wear. However,
If you really want to be sure your bamboo sheets were made with sustainable practices, look for OEKO-TEX and GOTS-certified organic sheets. Quince's Bamboo Sheet Set, for example, is created with fibers from a highly renewable resource, carries an OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification, and is hypoallergenic so you can rest easy knowing your bedding is free of potentially harsh and harmful chemicals.
Weave
The weave directly affects the way the sheets feel, and bamboo threads are usually woven in either twill or sateen. If you're looking for a more luxurious look, sateen is the way to go: it has a super soft, silk-like feel and appearance, and is versatile enough to mix with other weaves. Twill is an overall more durable option, with a tight, short weave that more so resembles denim. It has a crisper look that will hold up after multiple washes and is generally less expensive than sateen.
Thread Count
Bamboo sheets typically have a thread count somewhere between 250 and 350. Though this may sound lower than some cotton options, bamboo is naturally soft. A 100 percent bamboo sheet with a 250 thread count may feel just as soft as a cotton sheet with a 400 thread count—which proved to be the case during testing.

-
What are bamboo sheets made from?
Bamboo sheets are made with fibers derived from bamboo using the viscose process. Essentially, bamboo is broken down into pulp and treated with chemicals, which creates a solution called viscose that can then be spun into thread.
-
How do you wash bamboo sheets?
Most bamboo sheets can be machine-washed in cold water and dried on a low dryer setting. It's best to wash bamboo sheets separately, as they can attract lint if washed and dried with towels, and they may easily be damaged if washed with clothes or bedding with zippers. If you're able to, it's best to line-dry bamboo sheets until they're mostly dry, and then finish drying them on a low heat cycle.
"The more absorbent a fabric is, the more it will shrink," says textile expert Deborah Young. Thus, bamboo often shrinks more quickly. To avoid this, use low heat settings when washing and drying.
-
Are bamboo sheets eco-friendly?
It mostly depends on how they're manufactured. While it looks tree-like, bamboo is actually a grass which can easily and quickly be grown all around the world with little water, fertilizer, or other resources. So, bamboo itself is generally a very eco-friendly crop. However, processing bamboo into fabric requires chemicals such as sulfuric acid and carbon disulfide. Unfortunately, if waste is not well-managed by production facilities, these chemicals can end up in the environment.
As with any purchase, there is give and take. "Bamboo grows without pesticides, but requires harsh chemicals to make it into the soft fabric that it is," says Young. Therefore, when shopping for bamboo sheets, it's especially important to look for brands who are transparent about their production process and are OEKO-TEX certified.
-
Are bamboo sheets cooling?
Bamboo sheets can feel cooler to the touch than most cotton sheets. While not quite as breathable as linen, bamboo sheets are a much more affordable option if you're looking for a cooling sheet set.
-
What is the benefit of bamboo sheets?
Bamboo sheets are breathable, leading to a cooler, more comfortable night’s sleep. The best bamboo sheets are also soft and durable. Depending on the blend and how they're made, bamboo sheets can also be sustainable and eco-friendly.
