Best Overall: Wamsutta® Dream Zone® 725-Thread-Count Sheet
Made with pure, pima cotton for a super soft, silky feel, our number one spot goes to Wamsutta’s Dream Zone 725-Thread Count Sheets. Because these sheets are woven with extra-long pima cotton fibers, they’re softer and more durable than standard bed sheets — and will get softer and comfier after every wash.
Real-life customers love these sheets for their light and airy feel, high quality and value. Many customers wrote that their sheets have gotten better with age, so you know they’ll stand up against the test of time — and repeat washes.
These sheets are available in 10 colors that can match any color palette and a range of sizes, from twin extra-long to California king. Plus, the fittest sheets have extra deep pockets that can fit mattresses up to 20” high or less.
Heads up: These sheets do not come in a set — you have to purchase the fitted sheet, flat sheet and pillow cases separately. Because they’re not available in a set, there is a slightly higher price tag depending on the size needed.

How We Tested
Our reviewers spent 112 hours testing one of our readers’ favorite high-thread-count sheet sets. To get the most thorough results, they put the sheets on their beds and slept on them every night for multiple weeks. We asked our testers to consider the most important features when using these high-thread-count sheets, including their weave, fiber, and durability. We've outlined the major points here so that you, too, know what to look for when shopping.
What to Look for in High Thread Count Sheets
Ply Before deciding which pair of high-thread-count sheets to buy, consider the ply of the material. Single-ply means that just single yarn fibers are woven together, while two-ply indicates that two yarn fibers are twisted together before being woven into a sheet. A higher ply doesn’t necessarily mean a softer, more luxurious sheet, though — two-ply fabric tends to have a looser, heavier weave and a shorter lifespan.
Weave High-thread-count sheets come in a variety of different weaves including sateen and percale. A sateen weave has a luxurious and soft-to-the-touch feel, while percale is crisper and especially ideal for people who get hot when they sleep.
Fiber You can find sheet sets made from many different fibers, including cotton, organic cotton, microfiber, bamboo, and more. Specialty cotton — like Pima and Supima — are worthwhile splurges for a high-thread-count sheet set. Microfiber is made from brushed polyester fibers and does a great job of imitating the smooth, soft finish of cotton at a more budget-friendly price.
Test Results: Wamsutta® Dream Zone® 725-Thread-Count Sheet (Best Overall)
What We Like
Very soft after two washes
Great overall quality
What We Don't Like
Not soft right out of package
Wrinkled after washing
“These sheets are better than nine out of 10 other sheet sets I've tried,” raved one of our testers. One reviewer thought that they struck the perfect balance of smooth and sturdy: “They’re still soft but really hold their shape and stay in place,” he noted. However, one tester observed that they “aren’t the softest” right out of the package and found that it took them two washes to feel comfortable. These sheets also came out of the wash a little wrinkled, according to one reviewer.
