This "go to" recipe for lamb burgers is my favorite. I recommend these patties for first timers, so if you're a novice lamb burger cook, then give this a try.

What You'll Need

  • For the Burgers:
  • 1 1/2 pounds/680 grams ground lamb
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons/30 mL onion (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons/30 mL ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon/5 mL Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon/5 mL thyme
  • 1 teaspoon/5 mL salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon/2.5 mL black pepper
  • For the Burger Topping:
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup feta (crumbled)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder (mild)
  • Optional: 1/4 teaspoon/1.25 mL cayenne pepper

How to Make It

  1. Combine the burger topping ingredients in a small plastic or glass bowl.
  2. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until burgers are ready to serve.
  3. Preheat the grill for medium heat.
  4. Combine ground lamb with remaining ingredients.
  5. Form into 4-5 patties and place onto the grill grate. Cook for 6-7 minutes per side, or until meat has reached the desired doneness.
  6. Remove from heat and place onto toasted bun (or warmed pita) with lettuce, sliced tomatoes, red onions, and a spoonful of burger topping.
