Grounded

Mignon Hemsley

We love plants. Like, a lot. And we’re always looking to expand our collections, which is why it’s always good to know the best places to shop for plants online. Sure, they existed before, but they’ve really thrived in recent years. Online plant shops bring a bigger variety of plants to people who may not have access to nurseries or plant shops where they live. You can find rare plants, amazing plant accessories like one-of-a-kind pots, and all of the fan favorites. Having talked about the big online plant retailers, we wanted to showcase some of the best Black-owned online plant stores that have helped people bring the outdoors in and create their own indoor jungles.

    Planting With P

Planting with P was founded in 2019 by Paris Hannon. The online shop sells a variety of houseplants as well as flower arrangements, wreaths and candles, and more. She’s got rare plants for sale, some small baby plants, and larger more common plants, and they’re all sold at pretty reasonable prices. December sees the addition of the poinsettia and holiday cactus.

In addition to selling plants, you can also find smudge sticks, which people use to cleanse their space to invite positive energy in, and custom crystal manifestation jars. But perhaps the coolest thing she’s got for sale is her All Things Plant Related Subscription Box. It’s a monthly subscription includes a sage stick, a DIY plant kit, and some other fun things.

    Tal & Bert

    Planters from Tal & Bert

    Tal & Bert

Founded in February 2020 by husband and wife Ray and Val Talbert, Tal & Bert features unique pots made with hand-poured concrete and minerals that plant parents are loving. They have two brick-and-mortar shops in Pennsylvania, but you can shop online too.

Their beautiful Geode collection boasts planters of different sizes to hold your favorite houseplants and vessels to showcase air plants. We especially love their plant hangers, which look beautiful hanging in a window, the geodes glistening in the sunlight. And of course, this place is a one-stop shop as you can purchase plants from their online store to go with your new pot.

    Natty Garden

Brooklyn-based nursery Natty Garden knows what they’re doing when it comes to plants. They first opened in 2008 as a small store and since then have evolved into a huge shop and an online retailer. They sell pretty much everything ranging from indoor and outdoor plants and planters to landscaping services and holiday trees and wreaths.

When you shop online you can easily find the perfect plant for your space as they categorize plants based on the light you have in your home. If you’ve got high light, why not grab a cactus? Low-light? Get your hands on a philodendron.
