    Exclusive 2016 Water Warriors details

There used to be a single, household name in quality water guns: Super Soaker. But the brand made famous by its "Constant Pressure System" (a rubber bladder that allowed a nearly constant stream of water to be released over the entire shot) was sold to Hasbro in 2002. And since that time, Super Soaker has never quite been the same, with a string of battery powered, triggerless, or otherwise less-than-memorable models that failed to capture the power and visceral engagement of the...MORE original product line.

Enter Buzz Bee Toys of Mt. Laurel, NJ. This value-based blaster brand has quietly been building an arsenal of impressive water blasters under their "Water Warriors" label, and has arguably become the go-to brand for serious drenching power. For 2016, they intend to defend that reputation by releasing a series of new models, with one in particular that caught our eye as a spiritual successor to original, constant pressure-type blasters--the Gargantua! Following is an exclusive look at each of the new models, with official specifications and imagery kindly provided to us by Buzz Bee.

    Thoughts on the new line-up

As always, Buzz Bee had a few surprises in store for us with this new Water Warriors product announcement, including the first constant pressure water gun we've seen from the brand in some time. But we're also happy to see several new models that feature functional triggers (and no models that require the use of batteries).

On the other hand, gimmicks like the "spinning water wheel" and "power meter" may appeal to the youngest among us (and some models are indeed rated as...MORE being appropriate for ages as young as just 4 years), but we'd prefer to see fewer functionless bells-and-whistles, and more time spent in product design, with textured surfaces, fewer stickers, and a more unified brand look being our top priorities.

Regardless, we recently spent time with the older, air pressure powered Buzz Bee Water Warriors Outlaw and found it to be among the best water guns we've ever tested. So we have no reason to believe these new Buzz Bee models won't meet or exceed the standards we've come to expect from the brand. And we likewise have no doubt kids and adults across a wide age spectrum will find something to their liking in this exciting new line-up!
