Cadac is South Africa company that has emerged on the global barbecue scene in the last few years though the company has been around for several decades. This Stratos Stainless Steel model is a three burner standard gas grill with a side burner. The design is sleek and to be honest quite appealing. While a lightweight grill if offers a high heat output from the main burners and solid porcelain coated cast iron cooking grates that are reversible and able to transfer a good deal of heat.

While this might not be the best gas grill in this price range (around $400USD) it is certainly one worth considering.

  • Strong heat output from the main burners
  • Heavy porcelain coated cooking grates
  • Fits into small spaces.

  • Low grades of stainless steel throughout

Guide Review - Cadac Stratos 3-Burner Stainless Steel Gas Grill

Cadac is a company with a lot of history and though you have probably never heard of it, they have been making all kinds of outdoor cooking equipment for a few generations now. They have a wide range of gas, charcoal, and portable grills that are innovative in design and feature. This is one grill company that you should learn about and consider when shopping.

These days they have a global market and their products are widely available, though largely online.

The Stratos line from Cadac is actually towards the low end of their price range and is comparable in size, price, and features to the Weber Spirit grills as well as the higher end products from Char-Broil. The construction quality is on the light side, though the primary components are good quality and the porcelain coated cast iron cooking grates are solid and able to effectively transfer the heat generated by the three main burners. In fact, this grill has one of the highest BTU outputs for its size in this price range and preheats much faster than most of the competition which tend to have sacrificed power for the price. It is also nice that the lid, though lightweight, is double layered for better heat retention, though it is this way to actually protect the appearance.

Of course, this is a basic gas grill and while Cadac offers a number of accessories like warming pans and griddles, this model is designed for the more traditional outdoor cooking. The cooking area is large enough for most people and the three burner design makes is perfect for both direct and indirect grilling.

The side burner is small and not very powerful. It will work to heat a small pan, but won't handle much more. Since the side tables can be folded down to reduce the footprint, they are not terribly strong so heavy items need to be kept off of them.

Ultimately, the shortcoming of this gas grill, like most at this price point is the weight of the construction. This gas grill, with three burners, a side burner and those cooking grates is around 66 pounds. While this is a small grill, the metals used to hold it all together and to hold in the heat are thin. This will limit the long term durability of the grill, though, for the price, it is what you should generally expect.
