Most of us who follow the news hear about the bad behavior of celebrities, so when someone famous actually has good manners, we're often surprised. That shouldn't be the case, of course, because everyone needs to follow the same etiquette rules. Having money and fame doesn't exempt anyone from showing kindness and respect toward others.
Many parents worry about the famous people their children try to emulate. If this is you, spend some time selecting famous people who act... appropriately in public, are kind to others, and give something back to the fans who put them on a pedestal. These are good role models you want your children to see.
Here are some celebrities who are known to be well mannered in public:

Yes, she's the royal Duchess of Cambridge, married to a prince, and mom to the future King of England, but she still shows respect to those around her. Another thing to love about this beautiful duchess is her desire to make this world a better place by spending time working for Hospice organizations.

This football player extraordinaire allows his faith to rule his behavior. I've never seen Tebow's name connected with a drunken or drug-related scandal, and I doubt we ever will. He has maintained his composure in spite of some of the ridiculous comments of others. Whether he's getting applause or boos from the crowd, he maintains his dignity. Tim Tebow is a class act and one you won't mind your children emulating.

Reformed bad boy Mark Wahlberg is now known for being polite to everyone in his path. I haven't heard of him treating anyone disrespectfully in public – at least not recently. He might not have always been the king of etiquette, but he has come a long way to be the kind of person he currently is. He's a hard worker who doesn't expect anything to be handed to him, so we can forgive some of the antics in his younger days.

Kelly Ripa and husband Mark Consuelos
These two people are not only one of the best-looking celebrity couples they are well-mannered people who insist on their children knowing proper etiquette. They have family dinners most nights, and they use this opportunity to teach table manners. Their kids also must write thank you notes. I wish all parents spent this kind of time with their children. We wouldn't have nearly the problems that we have in society if they did.

This girl-next-door, southern-through-and-through show host considers good manners to be very important. Never one to be late or forget to thank someone, she's a fan favorite as well as a very funny lady. I love seeing her generosity with her viewers, especially when she saves a family from being without a car to transport the kids and provides diapers for the baby. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you need to tune in to her show. And you'll know it's an extra good day if her mama is in the audience.
Obviously these aren't the only poised, well-mannered, and gracious celebrities, but they are a good sampling of famous people who have maintained proper etiquette. It's nice to know that some people can reach the pinnacle of fame and still be grounded.
