In the East (China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong) we believe we have a natural remedy that will make women’s breasts larger. If you ask a Chinese person what kind of food can help ladies breasts grow, 99% of people will answer you “Green / unripe papaya”.
But why do people believe green papaya is the remedy for growing big breasts? Apparently, green papaya is high in enzymes and enzymes can break down the proteins and help the body to absorb these proteins which are good for breast enlargement. As I’m not medically trained I won’t want to promise you that if you try this recipe you will definitely grow your breasts bigger but there is no harm in having some delicious and healthy soup every day. Another thing is you really want to try this soup or the purpose of growing your breasts do it when you are still “growing” as a teen or preteen. It’s going to be pretty hard for your breasts to grow when you are age 30 or 40 and don’t even mention 50.
I know in some cultures people even believe eating green papaya can help mothers who are breastfeeding to produce more breast milk. I tried this before when my daughter was born but I think it only helped me a little bit but as I said before there’s no harm in drinking this delicious soup often. There are a few other health benefits about green papaya.
- Green papaya is high in potassium. Eating high potassium food can lower the risk of having a stroke and develop heart disease. Green papaya has higher potassium than a ripe papaya. You may know the once the fruit is ripe it’s health benefits start to deplete.
- There is papain found in green papaya. Papain is a type of protein-digesting enzyme that is usually used by people to soften the meat. If you take papain as a health supplement it can help your digestive system function better.
- Papain is also known as a remedy for reducing inflammation.
- Rich in fiber
- Green papaya is full of vitamin A
- Apparently, another magic of green papaya is it can help you to get your irregular menstrual cycle back on track. This is because green papaya can help to contract the muscles in your womb.
Although there are so many health benefits from green papaya as mentioned before, green papaya can also help to contact the muscles in your womb so please avoid consuming green papaya during pregnancy. The other food in Chinese food culture that has a similar function is “toasted sesame oil” which will also help contract the muscles in your womb so after giving birth there are many Chinese and Taiwanese ladies who will consume sesame oil chicken soup or other recipes that are cooked with toasted sesame oil.
Green papaya helps our body digest and break down "protein" so I would recommend you to consume green papaya with meat or fish. This recipe for "green papaya and pork rib soup" (青木瓜燉排骨) is my favorite way of eating green papaya.
If you are not a fan of pork rib and you can change the pork rib to chicken legs or breast. Some people might be wondering what green papaya tastes like? To be honest I don't think green papaya has any real strong taste. It does taste different compared to ripe papaya. The texture is firmer than ripe papaya and after cooking it will turn quite soft.
You can purchase green papaya in a Chinese or Asian supermarket but if you don't have any Chinese or Asian supermarket locally you can actually purchase on Amazon (at least at the time of writing this article). The price is a bit more expensive than Chinese supermarket or Asian supermarket but it's so much easier if you don't have access to a Chinese or Asian supermarket.
Chinese soup generally very different compared with western soup. Western soup usually quite thick but Chinese soup is more liquidity and you can see ingredients in dice, piece or julienne shapes. Soup is good for you and consumes daily can help you hydrate and cleansing your body.

- Boil a pot of water and blanch the pork ribs. This will clean the ribs and remove any dirt from the bones. You’ll see the excess dirt, for example, blood, float on top of the water. Once you see this wash the ribs under cold water. Remember to wash the pot as well.
- Put the ribs back into the pot along with the ginger and around 2 liters of cold water and boil it. Once it reaches the boil reduce heat and simmer for 1.5 hours.
- Peel and remove the seeds from the green papaya. Dice the papaya and for the carrots, you can use a ring cutter to cut it into a flower shape (if you wish to do so).
- Put the papaya into the pot and cook the ribs until the papaya has softened. Season the soup with salt and ground white pepper. Once the papaya is soft this dish is ready to serve.
