It's the holiday season and it's time to give a gift that keeps on giving! These cookies in a jar would also be fun for any holiday or happy occasion. It's such a simple gift to make and put together. Not only will your loved ones get to make yummy chocolate chip cookies, they can use their new mason jar for a craft as well.

Follow these instructions to make chocolate chip cookies in a jar gift and then print out the recipe card to include.

Jar Ingredients:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • * chocolate chips

Filling the Jar:

Start by layering the ingredients above in a quart size canning jar in the order listed above in the "Jar Ingredients" list.

TIP: I used a small funnel and it worked pretty good for most of the ingredients.

*Use enough chocolate chips so the jar is full all the way to the top. I used semi-sweet chocolate chips, but you can use milk chocolate chips if you like. It would be fun to even use butterscotch chips or vanilla chips. Maybe even some M&M candies as well.

Be sure to pack down all of the ingredients, especially the brown sugar. You'll want it to be really tight in the jar so that you have enough room to fit it all. And to make sure the ingredients don't rustle and mix around. You want to keep that layered look.
