Gathering The Supplies
Before you try making this shirt, read through all of the directions and gather together these supplies:
- Plain, White T-Shirt
- Rubber Bands
Of course, you also need fabric dye. There are several varieties available from a very inexpensive RIT Powder to more expensive professional quality dies. Our first choice is usually RIT Powder as it is easy to find even at grocery stores; however, after trying Simply Spray Dye, that may become my first choice.
There are several other basic supplies you will... need to use while you dye. These will vary depending on the dye you use. Consult this list for ideas. Now we can start.Continue to 3 of 5 below.

Preparing Your T-Shirt to Create Tie-Dye Circles
First of all, you should wash the t-shirt to get out any sizing. Make sure it is dry before you start to tie it.
Lay your t-shirt flat on the table. Start out by grabbing the center of the t-shirt. Slowly lift it off of the table. Run your hands down the side of the t-shirt.
You are now ready to tie the t-shirt.Continue to 4 of 5 below.

How to Dye Your T-Shirt
Once you have your shirt tied how you want it, it is time to dye it.
Of course, the supplies needed and the directions for dyeing your shirt will depend on the dye you are using. As I said previously, we used RIT Powder dye to make this shirt.
We first dyed the t-shirt in RIT Green dye for about 20 minutes. We then rinsed the t-shirt, untied it, and then dipped it in Royal Blue RIT dye for just a couple minutes to get the light blue effect.
You can read through our step-by-step dyeing directions for... even more help.
Once your shirt is dyed and dried, wear with pride.
