July fourth is the day the citizens of the United States of America celebrate as Independence Day. We typically celebrate this holiday with fireworks, festivities, parades, barbecues, picnics and parties-- but why not add some crocheted fun to your Fourth of July celebrations as well?
We've posted a whole bunch of free crochet patterns for Fourth of July, and we hope you'll make good use of them.
Perhaps you might like to crochet some cute red, white and blue accessories to wear. Perhaps... you'd like to make patriotic-themed home decor items. Any of these Fourth of July patterns could add to your holiday enjoyment.

Red, White and Blue Kitchen Accents -- Crocheted Potholders and Dishcloth
From left to right:
This blue, white and red striped potholder is crocheted in afghan stitch. Cross stitched embellishments are applied to the top of the potholder, adding color and visual interest to the design.
These red, white and blue striped potholders would be ideal for using on the Fourth of July, but you can use them all year around. They'll look lovely in a variety... of different settings, whether you have an American country style kitchen or your style is more traditional, casual or contemporary.
Red, White, and Blue Tunisian Crochet Dishcloth
This dishcloth is a color variation of my earthtone ombre dishcloth; instead of using the earthtones as shown in the pattern, I substituted red, white and blue yarns.
Diagonal Striped Potholder in Red, White, and Blue
This potholder started out as a plain red and white striped design, and then I added blue accents using surface crochet. You can click here to see how it looks before and after the surface crochet was added. If you'd like to learn the surface crochet technique, be sure to check out the step-by-step tutorial.

When you come across an easy, versatile edging pattern like this one, it's always worth adding it to your pattern stash -- especially since it's a freebie.
The red, white and blue version of this design (pictured here) is great for finishing off projects you might use for celebrating Fourth of July, Memorial Day, Veteran's Day, and Armed Forces Day. I've specified some other color combinations that are suitable for other holidays as well. Of course, feel free to re-color the... design using any colors that would suit the projects you are making.

This pretty red and blue bracelet works for either dressy or casual occasions. You could wear the bracelet to dress up a plain white shirt so that you've got all three components of the red, white and blue theme covered. You might want to wear this bracelet on patriotic occasions such as the Fourth of July, Memorial Day, and Veteran's Day -- but it will look fantastic all year around

Dad's Char -n- Grill Potholders
If Dad hasn't quite mastered the art of barbecuing without burning the food, and he is able to maintain a sense of humor about it, perhaps he'd appreciate these silly crocheted potholders. The potholders say "Dad's Char -n- Grill." The red white and blue border makes these the perfect Fourth of July accessory, but Dad can use the potholders all year around.
