This super easy recipe for Crockpot Cheeseburgers uses just five ingredients, and are cheeseburgers in the form of sloppy joe sandwiches. In other words, the beef is cooked, then combined with delicious sauce ingredients for a wonderful hot sandwich.

Kids especially love this recipe. If you'd like, you could cook some chopped onions and garlic along with the beef if your children don't mind those ingredients. They would add great flavor.

Ground meats must always been cooked before they are put into a slow cooker. If you try to cook ground meats right in the slow cooker, the recipe will be too fatty and the meat will not have the correct consistency. Always cook and drain ground beef, chicken, turkey, pork, and sausage before cooking in a crockpot.

Serve this fun and easy recipe with some carrot sticks, celery sticks, and apple slices. That's really all you need for an excellent lunch or dinner.

What You'll Need

  • 1-1/2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil leaves
  • 2 cups cubed pasteurized process American cheese
  • 10 hamburger buns

How to Make It

Cook the ground beef in a large skillet until thoroughly cooked, about 5 minutes. No pink should be showing in the meat. Stir frequently to break meat up into small pieces. Drain the beef thoroughly.

Combine the cooked and drained beef in a 3-1/2-quart slow cooker with the ketchup, mustard, and basil and mix well. Add some chopped onion, if desired, or cook the onion with the beef for a milder flavor.

Top everything with the cubed cheese. Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 3 to 4 hours or until everything is hot and the cheese is melted. Stir the beef mixture gently. Serve beef mixture in hamburger buns. You can add more ketchup or mustard to the beef mixture, or add pickles or olives if you'd like.
