It is the time of year when we reach out a little more to those in need. There are many organizations in the world that use their cross stitch skills for good and help raise money and awareness for various causes.     Embroidered designs are stitched into quilts and given to families of premature babies as a special remembrance. There are local chapters of this charity. Check your local hospital for details or chapters.

    Quilts are sewn and given to children with Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Again, there may be a local chapter at your neighborhood hospital or church. If you can not find one, start it up yourself. You can have a quilting bee and sewing circle.

    Founded in 2001, Stitches of Love and Kindness is a non-profit organization that makes quilts and cushions for children and adults with long-term illnesses as a way to show support during a difficult time. Stitchers may join at no cost and there is no deadline for stitching.This is a wonderful organization for those of us who just want to stitch and not sure what to do with the finished project.

This project is limited to Europe, but the members invite you to copy the initiative in the country in which you live.This is a wonderful organization that will lift spirits and help with mental health issues.
