This simple dark chocolate sauce makes a delicious ice cream topping, or drizzle some over cake or cheesecake. This recipe is simple, quick and delicious.

What You'll Need

  • 2 squares unsweetened chocolate, broken up
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons butter, cut in small pieces
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

How to Make It

  1. Put chocolate and water in a heavy medium saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring, until chocolate has melted and blended with the water, about 3 minutes.
  2. Add sugar; continue cooking over low heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar is dissolved, about 4 to 5 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in butter until melted and blended. Stir in vanilla and serve immediately.
