Date Apple Quick Bread Recipe


  • 2 apples
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, stirred or sifted before measuring
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 cup chopped dates
Peel, core, and chop apples; measure 1 1/2 cups. Sift flour with the baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cream butter with sugar; beat in eggs. Beat flour mixture into the creamed mixture alternately with the milk.
Fold in dates and chopped apple. Turn into a greased and floured 9x5x3-inch loaf pan. Bake at 350° oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until a wooden pick or cake tester inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan for 10 minutes. Turn out onto a rack to cool completely.
