I was hooked on puzzles at an early age. My mother would quiz me with riddles – one of my favorites is: What is it that when you take away the whole, some is left?
Seems impossible, doesn't it? That's the beauty of puzzles. Every one has a solution (and very often a simple, elegant one). They force you to approach words and numbers in new ways. You learn as you are entertained. What could be better? And many clinical studies have shown that puzzle solvers are less likely to develop debilitating neurological disorders such as Alzheimer's. A puzzle a day keeps senility at bay!
So, what is it that when you take away the whole, some is left? The word 'WHOLESOME' (It took me many days to solve that one.)
