If you are ready to find out more about yourself (and your loved ones) through the eyes of feng shui astrology—also called 9 Star Ki astrology—then your first step is to find your 9 Star Ki number.
As you might guess, there are nine numbers (or stars) in 9 Star Ki astrology, which means there are nine archetypes or symbols in feng shui astrology. Much like there are 12 astrological signs in the traditional astrology.
Nine Star Ki astrology is based on the mystical feng shui bagua chart, the basis for defining the feng shui energy map of a home or office. There is a specific progression, or flow to all nine numbers, as well as a specific area that houses the energy of each number. If you want to explore this mystery further, look into the history of the magic square or lo shu square.
Your 9 Star Ki Number
The first step is figuring out your 9 Star Ki number. Your 9 Star Ki astrology profile is based on your year of birth. As you probably know, the Chinese New Year (the Lunar New Year) starts on a different day each year. However, for ease and simplicity, 9 Star Ki astrology defines the beginning of each new year as of February 4 (the Solar New Year).
So, if your date of birth is between January 1 and February 3, your 9 Star Ki year of birth is the preceding year. For example, a person with a date of birth on January 15, 1997, will have a 1996 year of birth according to 9 Star Ki astrology. Once you know your 9 Star Ki number, you can find more insights into your character, health, relationships, career and more.
Look at the chart below to find your year of birth (remember in feng shui astrology a New Year starts on February 4, not January 1). Then, look at the top number in its column. That is your 9 Star Ki number.
Your star number determines your feng shui astrology profile.

Your Astrology Profile
The quality of energy varies within nine-year cycles, and the number nine is also applied to shorter time cycles—from hours to months.
Each of the numbers on the astrology chart corresponds to a different element like earth, water, fire, and metal. Your star gives you guidance on some of your strengths and weaknesses and ways to bolster your energy through feng shui and the art of placement in your home and office.
