This is an excellent dry rub recipe to keep on hand to shorten your preparation time for chicken, ribs, and pork roast. You will need about 1/4 cup of the dry rub spice mix to cover a 4 to 6 pound whole chicken, so this would be good for about 4 uses.
Whisk together brown sugar, paprika, onion powder, thyme, salt, garlic powder, cumin, and cayenne pepper until well-mixed, breaking up any clumps.
Store in a cool, dark place in an airtight container. Use as a seasoning on barbecued, grilled, or roasted chicken, poultry, pork, ribs, and spareribs.
