Effen's portfolio of vodkas is a small one. They are not a brand that takes expansion lightly, following every trend with new flavors right away and the flavored vodkas that they do take on are done to perfection. It's something to appreciate about the brand as they released the sweet-flavored Salted Caramel in 2013. It is sure to become a favorite in the myriad of dessert vodkas available. It is the combination of sweet and savory that makes this one unique and impressive compared to many of its contemporaries, the salt gives it an extra dimension that is both original and inviting.
Drinking Effen Salted Caramel Vodka
One can tell that this flavor has seen as much care as the much loved Effen's Cucumber and Black Cherry. Produced in Holland and distilled from wheat, the base vodka is already smooth. When the natural flavors used to get the salted caramel taste are added, it is simply amazing. It has a wonderful, buttery caramel taste and the salt is perfectly balanced, making just enough of an appearance in the background that you know it is there while giving a nice depth to the vodka.
This is an easy vodka to drink straight, simply chill it and enjoy. While it is a natural companion in sweetened and creamy drinks like a White Russian, it is really good when simply topped with ginger ale (something sweet like Vernors) or the likes of Jones Soda's Vanilla Bean (which is rather dry on its own, but great when mixed).
