This simple slouch hat will fulfill your every day hat needs. It works up quickly and makes for a perfect weekend project. Pair it with a simple jeans and t-shirt outfit for a hip and fun look. Make the hat funky by adding crocheted embellishments like crochet flowers or other decorations. The hat itself is simple but you can get really creative with what you do with it once you know how to make it.

This is an easy crochet pattern that works for beginners.

Pattern Notes

  • Pattern is written for smallest size with changes for larger sizes within parenthesis. If only one number appears it applies to all sizes.
  • When slipping stitches for Round 2 of Forehead Section make sure to insert hook through only the back loop of the stitch you are working through. Doing this is what gives the woven appearance of the stitch.
  • The chain stitch at the beginning of every round counts as the first single or half double crochet for that round. Remember this when counting stitches at the end of every round.
  • The final decrease round of every size skips the initial chain stitch. This was done intentionally.
