The Spruce / Illustration by Amy Sheehan / Plant Proper
It would be an understatement to say I love plants. I get to read about them all day as an editor at The Spruce, and I have upwards of 50 houseplants. My favorite place to get plants is Plant Proper, a houseplant grower that sells plants online.
The prices seem too good to be true, but the company is able to keep them low because they grow the plants themselves. Besides having the most reasonable prices I’ve ever seen, Plant Proper also has the most up-to-date collection out there. They sell trendy plants before they even become trendy. They had over a dozen types of hoya for sale on their website before they ever became cool.
The plants are delivered in just a few days with the option to add a warming pack to the box is you live in a cold climate. Their pots and soil are packed down tight with spaghum moss and tape so there’s never any moss when I open the box. The plants are completely healthy and look excellent. I know I can reach out to their team with any questions I might have.
And the best news of all: they’re having a special spring sale. All plants are on sale with discounts as high as 50% starting Thursday, April 27 at 4 p.m. (EST) through Sunday, April 30 at 9 p.m. (EST).
Here are a few of my favorites to shop this weekend while the sale is happening.
Plant Proper Philodendron Pink Princess

Plant Proper
One of the trendiest plants of recent memory, the philodendron pink princess is on sale for maybe the most reasonable price I’ve ever seen.
Plant Proper Alocasia Ninja

Plant Proper
This alocasia has thick, grooved, leathery leaves. It’s pretty enough it’s basically decor.
Plant Proper Staghorn Fern

Plant Proper
The plant of a true pro, the staghorn fern grows best when mounted to a board or in a basket. If there’s one houseplant to advertise your expertise, this is it.
Plant Proper Variegated Synogium

Plant Proper
Variegated houseplants have been having a moment ever since monstera albo took off. This synogium has a low amount of variegation, but as a synogium it’s relatively easy to care for.
Plant Proper Epipremnum Pinnatum ‘Aurea’
:max_bytes(150000):strip_icc()/epipremnum-aurea---4_650x-0f13823c6de74fd199cf89d66b6bb26c.jpeg)
Plant Proper
Already epipremnum pinnatum is hard to find, but Plant Proper offers one with variegation.
Plant Proper Ficus Altissima

Plant Proper
Ficus benjamina, burgundy, elastica… they’ve all had their moment but none are as unique as the ficus altissima. The dark green leaves are rimmed with a vibrant almost lime green variegation.
Plant Proper Dieffenbachia Sterling
:max_bytes(150000):strip_icc()/dieffenbachiasterlinig-b859ea78eb054139b798dd402152170b.jpeg)
Plant Proper
You think you know exactly how a dieffenbachia looks, until you see dieffenbachia sterling. The bright white vein down the center of each leaf, lightly branching to either side, makes it look almost like a type of alocasia.
Plant Proper Monstera Subpinnata

This climbing monstera looks unlike what you’ve come to expect monstera to look like (hello, monstera deliciosa).
