Review

Acting as a play saucer, doorway jumper, play gym, and bouncy seat in one neat package, the Fisher Price Deluxe Jumperoo will not disappoint parents of active infants. The sturdy frame and stiff, fabric-covered springs provide a very stable platform for the wraparound seat, allowing baby the freedom to jump and play without pinched fingers or out of control bounces.

It's designed for babies with good head and neck control who cannot yet climb out of this kind of toy, and who cannot walk yet.

A step up from the classic doorway jumpers, the Deluxe Jumperoo doesn't require you to give up use of a doorway as baby plays, nor does it carry the risk of falls that were somewhat common with older doorway models.

The frame and jumping seat are portable, and the legs fold in to fit through doors or for storage. You can adjust the height of the seat so that your baby can jump easily, but not get out of control, as he or she grows.

The plastic around the seat can be wiped clean easily, as can the detachable toys. That's a real plus, since your baby will be using the Jumperoo through the teething months where everything gets covered in slime, plus you might serve the occasional snack in there, which means grubby, curious fingers will explore those toys and leave a trail. Diaper leaks happen, as well, but since the fabric of the seat is machine washable, clean up will be simple and fast with minimal grossness for you to deal with.

The Jumperoo does take up quite a bit of space even when folded, though, unless you take the frame apart all the way. Disassembling the frame lets you store the pieces in a smaller space, but that's less convenient for regular use. Be prepared to find room to store it if baby lets you put it away between uses.  Though the pile of disassembled pieces aren't terribly convenient to carry along with you, the Jumperoo would be a great way to entertain baby away from home.

As baby jumps, music plays and the Deluxe Jumperoo provides a mini light show.

The built-in toys on the seat's tray mean parents won't have to retrieve toys constantly from the floor. You can use plastic toy links to add new toys and swap them out so baby is never bored. The seat also rotates 360 degrees, so baby can get a good view of the whole room and see all of the toys.

The Jumperoo is available in 8 different themes, each with a different configuration of toys and color schemes. There are also some Space-Saver Jumperoo models with a smaller frame if your home won't accommodate the full-size version.

The lights and music require 3 AA batteries to work. There are a few parent complaints that the light bulbs burn out quickly, but this problem doesn't appear to be widespread. The Jumperoo has a 25-pound weight limit. That could be reached fairly quickly for some babies, even before their first birthday.

The fun provided for baby, the portability, and the sturdiness make the Fisher Price Deluxe Jumperoo well worth the price. The Jumperoo has been a popular jumper for many years now, and it's easy to see why when you watch a delighted baby bounce around in it.
