Online Room Design Tools

  • Free Online Room Planners: We share our links and valuable information about the top online room design tools.
  • Armstrong Design-A-Room: Very simple and geared only toward certain products, but if you are wondering how Armstrong flooring will pair with Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore or Pittsburg paint colors, this may work for you.
  • BH&G Arrange-A-Room: A tool from Better Homes and Gardens that is designed to help you plan your furniture arrangement and color-coordinate your furnishings. Registration required, after which they will slaughter your email inbox if you aren’t careful to uncheck their newsletter sign-up boxes.
  • Find Any Floor: This is a very simple but easy-to-use online program that doesn’t require any downloads. Choose different flooring, walls, and furniture colors to help you visualize what your room might look like.
  • Floor Planner: Floor Planner is an in-depth but user-friendly planning tool. Prepare to spend a few minutes figuring out the program, and registration is required, but once you get going, this may be all you need to design your entire home. Floor Planner allows you to draw your room or add a photo, make accurate plans all to scale, and even choose furnishings and more.

  • Online Paint Visualizers: A list to a few of the major paint companies’ color tools available online.
  • My Perfect Color: If you are curious about the wealth of paint colors available, just spend a little bit of time at this site. It’s a bit confusing to navigate but full of information. You can build your own palette, or choose from their color combinations.
  • Paint Colors Critique Corner: Submit a form and photo at House Painting Tutorials for a free opportunity to ask a question about choosing a paint color, and receive feedback on the exterior and interior color schemes you selected for your home.
  • Stylish Home Palette Maker: Build your own custom room palette with this tool from Stylish Home. You can choose from one of their generic room images or upload your own.

Online Furniture Tools

  • Bassett Furniture: If you are itching for a custom piece of furniture, Bassett Furniture will let you customize a limited selection of their pieces. Use their online tool to explore. Prices are moderate.
  • Broyhill Furniture: Broyhill Furniture will also allow a limited number of their furnishings to be customized, including casual dining.
  • Thomasville Furniture: Thomasville allows you to customize their soft furnishings with selected leathers or fabrics. Their tool allows you to sort furniture by width, height and more.
  • Build A Sofa: Build A Sofa says they offer a complete customized sofa experience if you can stand dealing with their talkative, interactive (and slightly irritating) website. Turn your computer’s volume down first.

Online Accessory Tools

  • High Country Rugs: Customize your own oriental rug online at High Country Rugs. The tool is free but the rugs are not. Prices aren’t cheap, but you never know–you might be purchasing a future heirloom.
  • Jonathan Adler: Customize your own designer decor with this tool by Jonathan Adler. Beware of the designer pricing. A 16x16-inch pillow will cost you $110.
  • The Perfect Rug: Create your own custom rug with The Perfect Rug. Prices vary.
