French Onion Soup

This delicious soup comes together in your crockpot or slow cooker and is a perfect recipe for cold, winter nights. The soup is finished off in the broiler for that classic French Onion Soup look and served with a slice of toasted French bread and a little Mozzarella.

What You'll Need

  • 4 large onions
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 Tbsp flour
  • 6 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 to 1 tsp Tabasco
  • 6 slices French bread, toasted
  • 6 Tbsp shredded Mozzarella cheese

How to Make It

  1. Cook onions in butter until transparent.
  2. Add flour; blend well. Put in slow cooker.
  3. Add beef broth and Tabasco.
  4. Cook on low 7 to 9 hours or high 4 to 5 hours.
  5. Ladle soup into oven-proof bowls. Top each bowl of soup with a slice of bread and shredded Mozzarella cheese.
  6. Broil until cheese melts.
