Pure de Patatas con Ajo y Pimenton

These easy mashed potatoes, flavored with garlic and Spanish smoked paprika are a wonderful complement to any main course, from roast beef or pork to grilled steak, and even a roast turkey or chicken. Add these to your holiday table for a great twist on traditional mashed potatoes.

What You'll Need

  • 6 potatoes
  • Water for boiling potatoes
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2-4 tbsp. virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp. Spanish sweet paprika
  • Salt to taste

How to Make It

  1. Peel potatoes. Cut potatoes into chunks. Place in a medium saucepan and cover with water. Boil potatoes until done. Drain water. Cover pan and set aside.
  2. While the potatoes are boiling, peel and finely chop garlic. While the potatoes are boiling, peel and finely chop garlic. Sauté the garlic in the olive oil in a small frying pan. Just when garlic is turning golden, add the paprika, and remove from heat.
  1. Pour garlic-paprika and oil into the pan of potatoes and mash, mixing well. Add a few tablespoons of oil to make a smooth mixture, then salt to taste and serve.

Serving Suggestions: Serve these potatoes with roasted poultry, pork or beef, as well as grilled steak.
