Every year, Golden Corral honors veterans and active military members with a free Veterans Day meal. Over the past 17 years, they've provided the free buffet to more than 5.4 million and raised over $14 million for Disabled American Veterans.
When Veterans Can Get Their Free Golden Corral Buffet
This year Golden Corral has its Military Appreciation Night the day after Veterans Day, on Monday, November 11, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Call your local Golden Corral before you make the trip out for your free dinner, just to be sure that they're participating.
Who's Eligible for the Free Buffet?
Golden Corral's free Veterans Day meal is available to those who have ever served in the U.S. military. This includes retirees, veterans, active duty, National Guard, and Reserves.
Families of military members are welcome to attend the meal, but they need to pay regular menu pricing for the buffet.
What You Need to Take With You
No identification is needed to get the free Veterans Day meal at Golden Corral. However, if you call your local Golden Corral ahead of time, verify whether identification is necessary, for the requirement may vary locally.
Some restaurants will let you just come in wearing your uniform. Otherwise, if the restaurant requires proof, you might be able to present any of the following:
- U.S. Uniformed Services ID Card
- U.S. Uniformed Service Retired ID Card
- Current Leave and Earnings Statement (LES)
- Veterans organization card (e.g., American Legion or VFW)
- Photograph of yourself in uniform
- Citation or commendation
Again, though, Golden Corral is said to not require any form of identification, so you shouldn't need to worry about coming prepared.
Free Meal Restrictions
Golden Corral's free thank-you dinner for Veterans Day 2018 is only served on November 12, and there are no rain checks or gift cards that you can get to redeem on another day.
This Veterans Day free meal is also only valid for dine-in customers. The offer is not eligible for take-out.
Golden Corral's Camp Corral
Golden Corral has another military freebie where children of military personnel can attend a week of camp for free.
The camp is called Camp Corral. At that website, you can see videos of people at the camp, read some FAQs, find out the camp dates and locations for each specific camp, and see the kinds of activities that are available for kids.
