This basic marinade is the perfect alternative to the traditional brining of your turkey, because it doesn't overpower the flavor of the bird. Instead, it provides a protective layer for the grill, while still adding some subtle flavors, with seasonings like dried oregano, salt, black pepper, Worcestershire and white vinegar.

What You'll Need

  • 1 1/2 cups/360 mL light cooking oil
  • 1/2 cup/120 mL water
  • 1/2 cup/120 mL lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup/120 mL white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup/120 mL Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup/60 mL balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon/15 mL dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon/15 mL salt
  • 1 tablespoon/15 mL black pepper

How to Make It

  1. Combine all ingredients and mix well. Keep refrigerated until you need to use it.
  2. Mix before adding to poultry.
  3. This recipe makes enough marinade for a 12 to 16 pound turkey.
