Hard Sauce for Bread Pudding

This is an old-fashioned hard sauce recipe which can be made with or without liquor. Serve this sauce with warm desserts, such as a pie or bread pudding

What You'll Need

  • 1/2 cup butter (softened)
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar (confectioners', sifted)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or 2 tablespoons rum or brandy

How to Make It

  1. Cream butter with confectioners' sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in vanilla extract or rum or brandy.
  2. Serve with warm bread pudding or another warm dessert.
