    Maya Kaimal Chickpea Chips

    Maya Kaimal Chickpea Chips
Maya Kaimal Chickpea Chips. Maya Kaimal

Chickpeas are loaded with protein, fiber and flavor, and these chips combine this nutritious bean with rice and sesame seeds, and some great savory seasonings, including the Asian spice asafetida.  The chips were inspired by the South Indian snack “murukku.”   We loved the plain Lightly Salted for everyday snacking, as well as the Seeded Multigrain, but the Sweet Chili flavor was the most unusual.  Vegan and Gluten free.

    Lundberg Thin Stackers

    Lundberg Thin Stackers
Lundberg Brown Rice Thin Stackers. Lundberg

I could eat these all day long.  These are basically rice cakes, but thinner and square.  There is a red rice and quinoa version (ingredients: organic brown rice, organic red rice, organic quinoa), and one with brown rice (ingredients: organic brown rice, sea salt).  Both are great.  The fact that they are thinner means that they are quite toppable, so they can become a more robust snack or appetizer very easily.  Gluten free.

    Lundberg Sweet Dreams Rice Cakes

    Lundberg Sweet Dreams Rice Cakes
Lundberg Sweet Dreams Rice Cakes. Lundberg

I would love to tell you I adored these but the truth is I didn’t even get to try them because my kids ate the whole box before I could grab one.  Dark chocolate meets rice cake – apparently a very winning combination.  And two ingredients: rice plus chocolate.  Nice.

The New Primal Spicy Grass-Fed Beef Jerky

The New Primal Spicy Grass-Fed Beef Jerky
The New Primal Spicy Grass-Fed Beef Jerky. The New Primal

This protein-packed jerky was a big hit with my boys, the spicy version with light pronounced spice, but not too spicy.  Texture-wise they thought it was just right, not too thick not too thin.  It’s made from humanely raised turkey and grass-fed beef from New Zealand.  Did you know that the origin of the word Jerky is from Native American ‘Charqui’ which means ‘dried, salted meat”?  I didn’t but I do now.  Gluten free.

Good Health Mickey Shaped Veggie Chips

Good Health Mickey Shaped Veggie Chips
Good Health Mickey Shaped Veggie Chips. Good Health

Clearly geared towards the younger set, these Mickey Mouse shaped vegetable chips are both cute and delicious.  Each serving contains the equivalent of servings of broccoli, beets, tomatoes, spinach and carrots, therefore generous amounts of vitamins A, C, E, B6 and K.  No artificial colors, but the cute little chips are definitely colorful, and should be very appealing to little ones.  Though my bigger kids absolutely loved them, too, as did I.  These come in large and individual sized bags.

    Good Health Veggie Straws

    Good Health Veggie Straws
Good Health Veggie Straws. Good Health

These were also a hit, colorful and boasting the same nutritional value as the Mickey Chips.  The texture of these veggie straws is awesome, because of a hollow interior (hence the name, straws) which means a whole lot of crunch.  Single size bags of this and the Mickey Chips are perfect for tucking into lunch boxes.

Good Health Peanut Butter Filled Pretzels

Good Health Peanut Butter Filled Pretzels
Good Health Peanut Butter Filled Pretzels. Good Health

This bag was downed in one sitting.  My boys commented on the fresh taste of the peanut butter, and the nice whole wheat texture of the pretzel shell.  If you’re looking for a snack that will really fill you up and tide you over for a chunk of time, this is a good bet.

    Bare Banana Chips

    Bare Banana Chips
    Bare Banana Chips. Bare Snacks

These come in three flavors: Simply, Cinnamon, and Cocoa.  They are great out of the bag, but the company also suggests sprinkling them over oatmeal, dipping in peanut butter, and adding to trail mixes, all of which sound like good ideas to me.  The ingredient list on the Simply version is simply “Bananas” and the other versions each have one more ingredient, which you can guess by the title of the flavor.  Good source of fiber.  Gluten free.

18 Rabbits Jr. Chocolate Banana Organic Granola Bar
18 Rabbits Jr. Chocolate Banana Chia Organic Granola Bar. 18 Rabbits Jr.

The Jr. line of the 18 Rabbits Granolas Bars are all nut-free, which is a handy thing to know if you’ve got a kid with allergies.  Mango Strawberry Honey Chia, with sunflower and pumpkin seeds was quite good, as was Chocolate Banana with chunks of banana, bits of organic chocolate, as well as chia and sunflower seeds.

    Bandar Harvest Mix Vegetable Crisps

    Bandar Harvest Mix Vegetable Crisps
    Bandar Harvest Mix Vegetable Crisps.

These were really very interesting, extremely crisp and crunchy and with just a touch of salt so the flavor is quite gentle.   The mix contains a colorful blend of sweet potato, purple sweet potato, pumpkin, green bean, onion and okra.  My friend and I ate the whole bag.
