Ketchup, molasses, and brown sugar give these slow cooker baked beans barbecue flavor. The recipe is made with dried navy beans or a similar bean.

What You'll Need

  • 3 cups of dried white navy beans, soaked and then simmered until tender, following package directions
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 6 strips of uncooked salt pork or bacon, diced, about 4 to 6 ounces

How to Make It

  1. Follow the package directions for soaking and simmering the beans in water on the stovetop until tender. If the beans aren't tender, don't add salt until they are done.
  2. Place the beans and all ingredients in slow cooker; cover and cook for 6 to 8 hours on low. Stir a few times. Taste and adjust seasonings.
