Easy DIY Idea: Homemade Chore Charts

Want to make getting chores done a whole lot more fun? You can start by turning chore-tracking into a work of art. A baking tray becomes the base of a chore chart in this fun DIY project. Make it colorful with spray paint, then top it with your choice of customized magnets, tape, stickers and ribbon. And cross “crafting” off your awesome parent checklist.

Supplies You'll Need

  • Cookie sheets (1 per child)
  • Sandpaper
  • Spray paint, 1 Can
  • Circle magnets
  • Chore chart printout (you can find these online)
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Washi tape
  • Letter stickers
  • Ribbon
  • Hot glue gun

Homemade Chore Chart Instructions

  1. Sand all sides of the cookie sheet.

  2. Spray an even coat of paint onto the cookie sheet and let dry.

  3. Cut out the icons on your chore chart printout and glue them to the circle magnets. Let dry.

  4. Use washi tape to create columns on your dry cookie sheet.

  5. Using the sticker letters, spell out your child’s name at the top. Then “To Do” at the top of one column and “Done” at the top of the other.

  6. Flip the cookie sheet over, and using a hot glue gun, glue the ribbon around the edges of the cookie sheet. Tie a bow at the top.

  7. Place the magnets on the chore chart and hang.
