 Joe Norton was a writer for The Spruce covering the subject of hardscaping, the man-made features used in landscape architecture, like stone paths and walls. 

Norton is a hardscape professional who has worked as a mason and tile setter in places like the coast of Maine and the islands of Hawaii. In 2002 he founded Norton Stoneworks, and now designs and builds walls, patios, and walkways all over the state of Maine. 

Joe has been involved with hardscaping since his summer breaks in college, mixing mortar and carrying cement blocks for experienced masons and learning on the job.


Norton earned his B.S. from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with a concentration in creative writing.
