National days to celebrate this month

observances in June

The Spruce / Margot Cavin

The month of June is known as the time schools let out for the summer, and June 20 is the longest day of the year with the most daylight hours in the Northern Hemisphere. June is also the middle of the year and the midpoint of the growing season between planting and harvesting. The Strawberry Moon appears at various points every year in June; this last full moon of spring is named after the short strawberry harvesting period in the month—and not because the moon looks anything like the fruit.

Here are all the official—and unofficial—holidays and observances to celebrate this month.
