Larry’s full-time career in the electrical field began the year following his high school graduation, when he worked full time on a variety of electrical projects with his father’s company. In 1978, Larry decided to take his electrical experience to the next level and attended his local community college and received an associate's degree in electrical and electronic engineering.
After graduation, he worked as an electronic technician and eventually an engineer for the IBM Corp. until 1994, when he left and took over his father’s electrical contracting business. Since 1994, Larry has worked on literally thousands of residential projects from sheds with several lights and outlets to 12,000 square foot homes to barns to automobile shops and showrooms. His most exciting electrical endeavor is in the area of home inspection corrections. He takes the home inspector's report and the real estate addendum and proceeds to evaluate each electrical item called out and repair as required.
A Word From Larry Campbell
“Through the years, I thought the most rewarding part of the electrical work I performed had been experiencing the joy and happiness of my customers when seeing the end result of the work that I had done. What I have found out most recently is that being able to share insight, teach and enable my customers to do some of the work themselves is even more rewarding. I’m very excited to be working with The Spruce to offer accurate and pertinent information to a large audience to enable and assure them that they can tackle their DIY home electrical projects. I understand some projects are still best left for the professional. However, it is wonderful to help homeowners have a better understanding of a project to help them be a more educated customer."
Larry received two years of electrical trade school during high school at Carver Technical Institute, an associate's degree in electrical and electronic engineering at Germanna Community College, and a bachelor's degree in business administration at Liberty University.
