Leigh-Ann Jackson is a writer who’s covered style, arts & entertainment and pop culture for 20 years, writing for newspapers, magazines and digital publications. She got her humble start compiling community calendars for a daily paper and has since interviewed award-winning actors, chart-topping bands, literary luminaries and envelope-pushing entrepreneurs.
Leigh-Ann has had a lifelong love affair with design and is obsessed with home decor, shopping and...shopping for home decor. She infuses these passions into her personal essays and gift guides for The Spruce.

Leigh-Ann has written about such topics as her foray into houseplant motherhood, as well as the ups-and-downs of cohabitating with her actual kid. Plus, she's taken her eye for style and mild retail addiction and channeled them into compiling shopping guides for all things related to home design, kid-related cuteness, etc.
As a freelance writer, she also frequently writes about television, interviewing everyone from showrunners to Emmy-nominated stars to wardrobe stylists. Another personal passion that she regularly covers is fashion. She has styled photoshoots, tracked trends and written profiles of emerging designers, boutique owners, social media influencers and industry icons.
Leigh-Ann's first love, though, was and is music. She started writing about hip-hop and indie rock for her high school newspaper, then on to her university’s paper and the local alternative weekly. Shortly after graduating college, she started covering Austin’s vibrant music scene for the city’s newspaper, the Austin American-Statesman. This was pre-smartphone and pre-widespread WiFi, back when a pen and a pad were the music critics' go-to's. She may be a bit of a dinosaur, but if so, she's a raptor: “Clever girl.”
Leigh-Ann studied at the University of Texas at Austin where she obtained a Bachelor of Journalism.
While pursuing her undergraduate degree, she was a DJ and director at college radio station KVRX, wrote for The Daily Texan and interned at both Texas Monthly magazine and The Austin Chronicle.
