When honey mustard dressing first came onto the scene it seemed like a healthy alternative to other creamy dressings--what could be bad about the two ingredients honey and mustard? But, surprise! It contains mayonnaise, which, while it creates the creaminess we all love, it also bumps up the calories. So honey mustard dressing found itself on the high caloric salad dressings list.
But don't write it off of your dressings list just yet--by decreasing the amount of mayonnaise and using a reduced-fat version, this recipe still maintains its creaminess while cutting calories. And this low-calorie honey mustard dressing recipe is not only delicious but also versatile. Of course you can toss it with a fresh, green salad, but it is also ideal as a dipping sauce for grilled chicken, or a sandwich condiment in place of mayonnaise. We especially like it spread on turkey sandwiches. Make a batch and store in the refrigerator to enjoy with a variety of foods.
- 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
- 2 tbsp. reduced-fat mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp. honey
Combine the Dijon mustard, mayonnaise and honey in a small dish. Mix well, and refrigerate until ready to use.
