I've been a huge fan of some of the gel toilet bowl cleaners that get stamped or attached onto the interior of the toilet bowl. I've felt that they did a good job at keeping the toilet bowl fresh and preventing the need for frequent deep scrubbing. So when I saw Lysol's most recent Click Gel Automatic Toilet Bowl Cleaner on the shelf at my local store, I wanted to see how it compared.
With a slightly different delivery method, Lysol has joined the game to use a simple stamp of gel to keep toilets fresh and clean.
Lysol Click Gel Automatic Toilet Bowl Cleaner: Overview
The best toilet cleaners are products that make me spend as little time as possible cleaning the toilet. That's one reasons why more convenient products like Scrubbing Bubble Toilet Cleaning Gel and Lysol's No Mess Max Toilet Cleaner catch my eye. Although Lysol's Click Gel had a slightly different look, the promise was the same, a cleaner fresher toilet with not much effort. Inside the small box, there were four small packets. Inside each packet was a disposable applicator filled with the toilet cleaning gel. To get the gel onto the side of the toilet, you need to first remove a strip of protective plastic from the surface of the gel. Next hold the gel to the interior of the toilet bowl where you want the gel stamped.
Next click the disposable applicator down into place forcing the gel to stamp itself onto the bowl. Finally, throw away the disposable applicator and you are finished. After each flush the bowl is freshened and rinsed with a little bit of the gel. Each application is meant to last for about a week, and there are four applications in each box.
It's a very simple delivery method and seemed to hold up exactly to the 7-8 day mark before a new application was needed. The scent was mild but fresh and the bowl seemed to remain cleaner.
Lysol Click Gel Automatic Toilet Bowl Cleaner: Pros
Lysol's Click Gel Automatic Toilet Bowl Cleaner is simple to use, convenient, and with only a small amount of waste packaging. The product lasted exactly as long as it promised and was relatively inexpensive for a one-month supply of toilet cleaner. Lysol's Click Gel had a fresh mild scent and worked well to keep the toilet bowl fresh. And because it lasts a week, it's easy to remember to stamp the bowl each week during your weekly cleaning routine. This product comes in several different scents including Ocean Fresh, Citrus, and Lavender.
Lysol Click Gel Automatic Toilet Bowl Cleaner: Cons
This product isn't designed to deep clean the toilet. Be sure to start with a clean toilet bowl before applying the gel for best results. The product also will not completely eliminate the need for scrubbing of the toilet. Also, because the gel only comes into contact with the interior of the toilet bowl, the rest of the toilet area will need to be regularly cleaned as well.
The amount of time the stamp of gel lasts will depend on how frequently the toilet is used. Our upstairs toilets are used much less frequently and the stamps lasted in the nine day range, whereas the guest bathroom downstairs used by most people lasted only six days.
