While you might not be in New Orleans this year to celebrate Mardi Gras or "Fat Tuesday" by participating in carnival and indulging in food and drink before the start of Lent, you can still create your own Mardi Gras themed party complete with party beads at home.

To create an easy Mardi Gras celebration serve an assortment of dishes including gumbo, jambalaya, or Mardi Gras King Cake, and decorate your home with accents in purple, gold and green. When guests arrive hand them their own Mardi Gras...MORE mask and serve them up a colorful drink which they can place on beaded coasters.

To make your own fun beaded coasters head to the dollar store or craft store and buy a string of beads per coaster and several sheets of black cardstock.
