5 Questions With Melissa

What is your zodiac sign?

Capricorn. Hardcore capricorn.

What is your favorite thing you own and why?

It's so hard to choose just one. I really love my coffee table books and my speckled ceramic vase. My coffee table books are a curated collection of my favorite things in life (west coast architecture, home design, slow living, etc.) so they're very special to me. And my vase fits in so well with my decor style and is something I display year-round, changing the arrangement with the seasons. I like having eucalyptus in it during the spring and summer and alternate between pussy willows and dried wheat during the fall and winter.

What home decor trend are you loving right now?

Warm colors taking over minimalism! Typically we're used to seeing whites and cooler hues associated with minimalist living, but the cozy tones really help make a space feel more homey without taking away from a clean and orderly appearance.

What home decor trend is so yesterday?

This is going to be controversial, but farmhouse everything. I'm not here for it. This could partially be blamed on the fact I grew up in a tiny farm town and cringe at the thought of tractors and burlap sacks being "cute." (No shade to Joanna Gaines, though.)

What is your favorite season and why?

Fall! Let's be real—it's the only season I know how to dress and decorate for. And it's an excuse to eat my weight in pumpkin bread.
